About Legacy Care Planning

Legacy Care Planning facilitates and identifies solutions for Elder and Generational planning challenges -- utilizing a "top down" approach beginning with the Elder. LCP also assists individuals and families experiencing a long term or crisis care event to protect assets -- access care and insure that that succession issues are in order. Philosophically and practically, if a family plans together and is in basic agreement on the qualification strategies then a high probability exists for a satisfactory result.

Our company has a national presence and consults with strategic planning partners throughout the United States – including Asset Preservation Strategies and Veterans Home Care. Our firm works in cooperation with law firms, financial professionals and individuals to assist families in need of planning solutions for elder care and critical life events. We also work in cooperation with Veterans Home Care to advise their clients on proper planning for long term care Federal or state benefits.

about DAVid Yates


David Yates is the President of Legacy Care Planning and has been involved in financial planning since 1994. David obtained the Accredited Medicaid Planner (AMP) designation in 2010 through the Society of Medicaid Planners.

David is in demand as a seminar speaker and has conducted financial planning workshops since 1996. His most recent workshop, “Elder Planning Solutions -- Preserving the Legacy”, is a dynamic and cutting edge presentation on asset protection and long term care planning. He has facilitated VA and Medicaid planning CLE workshops to practicing members of the State Bar of Texas. David is also a contributing member of the Elderbar Listserv through the American Bar Association.

Since David believes it is impossible to know what you don’t know, he is committed to helping seniors having full access to all VA and Medicaid Long term care and hospice programs – all without the worry of losing the family home or spending down their hard earned retirement savings. In addition, his firm offers planning assistance and access to home care benefits for deserving veterans and their families meeting VA mandated asset and income thresholds.

David received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Small Business Tax and Finance from Baylor University in 1981. He is also a member of the nationally renowned Society of Medicaid Planners. He and his wife, Melinda, reside in Texas and California.
